A Woman after God’s Own Heart

How many of us desire to be a woman after God’s own heart? What does that mean and how do you even begin?

As I read through the book of Acts, I came across the story of David, and how he was selected to be King in place of Saul. There was something about David that God pointed out as key.

Acts 13:12

After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.

Also found in 1 Samuel 13:14

But now your kingdom will not endure; the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him leader of his people…

David was described as being a man after God’s own heart; a man who was willing to do whatever God asked him to do.

OBEDIENCE

David understood what pleased the Lord.

John 14:23

If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching…

1 Samuel 15:22

…to obey is better than sacrifice…

God shows us in His Word that we are to align our hearts with His. We are able to accomplish this by spending time in God’s Word. This is His heart completely exposed to us, and all we need to do is spend time in His word in order to get to know and understand His heart. Then we are also able to pursue the things that occupy God’s heart. The things God values, we will value.

You can be assured that if a desire you have, aligns itself with God’s desire from His heart, He will be faithful in providing the resources you need to fulfill that duty, calling, responsibility etc.

Luke 12:34 reads:

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

So, where is your treasure?
