11831_14573_5As I read through Proverbs 31 verses 10-31, The Virtuous Woman, I was captured by verse 25. The first part describes the fashion style of a virtuous woman.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity…”

In today’s culture we tend to focus solely on outward beauty, latest fashion and trends and overlook the beauty of character. The virtuous woman values the beauty of character and it’s reflected in her fashion style. Her wardrobe is made up of admirable qualities such as strength and dignity. She wears these virtues as one would wear clothing. It’s protects her, it covers her and it reflects her interests & style.

Strength means having power to resist strain or stress; durability. (The American Heritage Dictionary)

Dignity means nobility of character, manner or language. (The American Heritage Dictionary)

The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 4:12, Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. This is an example of strength and dignity.

The second part describes her confidence and hope.

“…and laughs without fear of the future.”

She Laughs! Her heart is joyful. She knows to count it all joy because the testing of her faith produces patience and patience doing it’s perfect work in her, develops other qualities, until she lacks nothing (James 1:2-4).

She is not fearful for she knows that God has not given her a spirit fear but a spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind! (2 Timothy 1:7) She knows that God works out all things for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

Did you know that these promises are for you as well? Grab a hold of them and make them yours!

Cloth yourself with strength and dignity so that you may be able to laugh without fear at the future because you know where your help comes from.
